VTrans launches Trail Hazard Reporting Tool for Vermont State Rail Trails

VTrans has recently launched a Trail Hazard Reporting Tool which can be found here: https://railtrails.vermont.gov/report-a-trail-hazard/. This tool is for the public’s use in reporting the following concerns related to a VT State Rail Trail. 

Note that the reporting tool is only for VT State Rail Trails and not other managed trails in the Poultney community. The D&H Rail Trail is a state-owned asset that runs through the heart of Poultney Village. Hazard/Maintenance Need:

  • Downed tree or debris blocking trail
  • Graffiti
  • Hanging branch or other potential hazard
  • Structure/Sign in need of maintenance
  • Trail flooded
  • Trail washed out
  • Trash, etc.

and 

Trail Etiquette Issue: 

  • User traveling too fast
  • Damage to rail trail property
  • Dog management (aggressive behavior, dog waste left on trail)
  • Graffiti
  • Horse waste left behind
  • Motor vehicle on the trail
  • Suspicious activity
